Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 3rd for the Red, White & Kaboom Independence Celebration. It’ll take place from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m at Lake Mirror, right along the Frances Langford Promenade. Among the festivities will be a performance by the Franchise Players featuring Andrew Luv prior to the fireworks display that begins at 9 p.m.
Admission/Fundraiser
Everyone attending the celebration is asked to bring along at least one non-perishable food item to benefit VISTE, Volunteers in Service to the Elderly. This community-based non-profit organization has been serving the communities of Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry, and Ft. Meade since 1983. It is their mission to assist older adults to remain in their homes, living safely and independently.
What to Bring
VISTE serves 1500 of our neighbors each month. They depend on your help in the form of donations to continue this valuable and needed service. Wondering what to bring? Here are some items they’re always looking for:
- Canned tuna
- Pasta
- Peanut butter
- Canned soup
- Ground coffee
- Canned beans
- Canned tuna
- Canned tomatoes
- Canned chicken
- Any non-perishable food item

Franchise Players
The Franchise Players Band will be our featured entertainment of the evening. They are a fun and unique band that will be sure to be one of your top favorites after listening as they blend elements of Soul, Pop, Smooth Jazz, Hip Hop, and more for a unique and refreshing musical experience.
Vendors
You can expect a host of vendors at this year’s festivities. Along with the entertainment, you’ll be able to experience a wide assortment of foods.

Rules to Know
You may bring your own food, but grills are not permitted. In addition, alcohol is allowed, but no glass bottles or containers. No tents or pop-up umbrellas are to be set up at the event. A personal rain umbrella is fine. No equipment may be staked in the ground. You can bring your leashed pet, but please consider the fact that some pets are sensitive to fireworks.
