What is Scout and Tag and Where are They Located?

In 2013, Scout and Tag began selling painted furniture and décor at the local farmer’s market. The name was inspired by their two sons, Scout and Tag, both of whom are now in college. Nikki and her husband have a fur baby, Wesley, who will probably greet you when you enter the store, located at 244 N. Kentucky Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801.

What are the Store Hours?

Owner Nikki Hunt’s business now occupies 3500 square feet in historic downtown Lakeland and they’re open:

  • Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00
  • Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Scout and Tag is now the local source for Annie Sloan chalk paint and their phone is (863) 225-2426.

Monthly classes are open to all who want to learn how to paint furniture and learn a variety of techniques using chalk paint. Techniques include:

  • Introduction to chalk paint waxes
  • How to paint a flat finish
  • How to paint a bi-colored textured, distressed finish
  • How to transform the hardware on your project

Enrollees will receive all supplies necessary to complete their project and need to bring a small project to complete.

Painted furniture still dominates Scout and Tag and makes it feel like you’re wandering through your home. Gift items are available such as charcuterie boards that are made by her husband LaMar, and various seasonal items that appear throughout the year. When you enter the store, the nostrils are assailed by the pleasing aromas coming from Rafa Natural, Bath & Body.

What Do They Carry?

Custom pieces are available, from address plaques to wall pictures to custom mats. Various hobby supplies and products are available such as artwork, calligraphy, books, cards, and stickers. Educational and entertaining puzzles are available, as well as a block printing kit, and a sourdough starter kit for those who like to bake.

Is The Scout and Tag Expensive?

If you’re looking for things to do in Lakeland, you’ll find something at Scout and Tag at a reasonable price. Although there are pricier items, gifts range from a few dollars for a keychain or bride luggage tag to hundreds of dollars for a piece of furniture, and of course, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
